...This should be the part of the show where I make a really bitchy LJ post. And I would, honestly, except I don't like preserving the parts of my life where I am genuinely upset; they tend to stick with me well enough on their own.

Anyway.

Hopeness, I found semi-good S/C. It's a one-shot, but it's compliant with game-canon EXCEPT for the "S knew C existed back in SOLDIER-days" bit of fanon, EITHER WAY CLOUD IS ACTUALLY SORT OF CLOUDISH so if you want to see let me know, I will link you.

Have started reading Haru wo Daite Ita. It is my new crack. Honestly, I find myself thinking about it at the weirdest moments and wondering what new drama will unfold in the tumultuous romance of Iwaki and Kato, ahahahaha see this is what happens when my brain finally implodes.

Also, haven't wordcounted in awhile, but pretty sure am still below 10K. Odds of reaching 50K are, at this point, so slim they make canofstag look like a blimp. Fatty.

So, when do people get back in town for Christmas break?

Ahhh, but Z/C is great, it's the PLAUSIBLE side of fanon. As in so plausible you might as well call it canon, because it being canon WOULDN'T ACTUALLY CHANGE ANYTHING.

As opposed to. You know. Seph'n'Cloud. Who, y'know. Hate each other. And didn't actually know each other in SOLDIER. Despite what the entire FF7 slash fandom seems to think.

Um. Right. DEFINITELY time to go to bed because the offer of recs should be made to *you*, shouldn't it. Anyway, sorry for crashing the thread and generally commenting to someone I don't know, but I am also happy to provide recs of a Z/C nature (and other natures, if you so desire).

If you're quite attached to the more canon (ie het) relationships there is also OT3 and the occasional OT4 fic to be had as well.

Hmm.
laylah is one of my favorite writers in this fandom and has written some Z/C, chiefly Against Regulations and Little Brother, both porny, the second one more so. She produces a lot of great stuff in a variety of pairings and in a few other fandoms too, and has new fic pretty frequently; you might want to check her stuff out in general.

ciceqi also has lots of good stuff, and writes Z/C a lot more often, and these days? Updates with new fic ALL THE TIME. As in practically every day, and it's all long, and it's all good. I have no idea how she pulls it off.
Probably my current favorite is her epicverse, which only has one installment so far but is already excellent. That first chapter there is basically gen, but it's all Zack and Cloud to a T and there WILL be slash in later installments. I highly recommend it; it makes me go eeee.
Then she's got Mascotverse which is a whole series of fics and pretty gloriously long at this point. It's technically Sephiroth/Zack/Cloud/Aeris, but the Z/C part has been the focus for most of it. Also good stuff; there's some sex but most installments are worksafe.
Then she has a bunch more stuff, much of which contains Z/C, usually in combination with at least one more person, but these two are my favorites.

Then there's chibirisuchan, who has a lot of FF7 fic listed here. A lot of it's Z/C(/S... I did warn you about the abundance of OTmore fic, right?).
However, what I'd say is probably her best fic is Tiger's Eye, which is actually fanfic masquerading as original fic. As she puts it, the fic gestures "at-filing-off-serial-numbers" to fit in the community rules. Read a few paragraphs - I can pretty much guarantee that you'll be able to tell who's who immediately, despite the changed names and slightly altered backstories. This is actually possibly my favorite fic in the fandom because despite the "alterations" the personality of each of the characters shines through clealy - it's wonderfully characterized. Pairing is Z/C/T/A, but there's definitely some bits that are specifically Z/C.

I've also heard that Got Your Back by miko_no_da is good, although I've never read it and can't vouch for it personally. First chapter. I think ihrketayhl's read it, though, if you want more info.

The stuff that's polyfic all spends at least some time focusing on the dynamics of just Zack and Cloud together, so I'm not just indiscriminately inflicting fics that are mainly about big sweaty piles of indistinguishable limbs on you. : p
Actually, I don't think any of the polyfics I specifically mentioned here ever involve more than two people in the bed at once, so it's all less terrifying than it probably looks, I promise.

This is really a pretty cursory list - I can think of at least one more good Z/C author who I haven't managed to track back down yet. You'll definitely want to hit up ihrketayhl for recs too, because I'm sure there's stuff she's found that I haven't.
